Evie Richards wins cyclocross world championships1st February 2016
Evie Richards produced a stunning ride to win the under-23 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships, in Heusden Zolder. Evie usually specialises in mountain bike cross country, but was selected for the cyclo-cross squad having won the British championships. Making her international cyclo-cross debut and in her first race in the under-23 category, Evie overcame her lowly start position to ride into the lead, before going on to take the solo victory. As the domestic national cross season draws to a close, we wrap up the season with Ian Field dominating the National Trophy Series securing his title as overall winner of the Elite men’s category for the second year running. Nicholas Barnes was also victorious and took home the title of overall winner of the under 23’s category in the same series. A snowy Milton Keynes Bowl staged the final race of the 2015/16 National Trophy and having sealed his title early on in the series Ian Field concentrated his efforts on the World Cup race in Lignières-en-Berry.
